Owner Alan Batty began his career as a tire changer for Tire Warehouse in 1974. He worked his way up through the industry, becoming a tire salesman with Servco Hawaii, then commercial and fleet service manager at General Tire Company in 1987. General Tire Company was sold in 1992, and it was then that Alan decided to start his own tire business.
So, in 1992, with only five people and a few customers, American Tire Company (ATC) was born. The first shop opened on Colburn Street in Honolulu Hawaii. As the business grew, ATC moved into the industrial area of Mapunapua and is still there today. In 2003, American Tire Company merged with DLK Tire and Rainbow Tire, adding retread capability to its list of services.
In 2011, American Tire Company opened a second location at 1030 Opule Street in Kapolei, Hawaii. This decision to open the second shop in Kapolei, made ATC the first commercial tire company in the area. Having this second shop in Kapolei allowed ATC to now provide service island wide. In 2016, the Kapolei location moved to a bigger space at 2336 Lauwiliwili Street.
In 2018, as part of the succession plan, Alan sold the business to son Daniel Batty. As the second generation in the family business, Daniels continues to focus on growing the business by providing exceptional customer service and quality products. Both locations have been focused on building strong customer relationships, and providing the highest quality of workmanship on each and every automotive repair.
